ODLA has got some important news before vacation time
The summer period has been quite hectic: ODLA project has in fact gone ahead in defining some important aspects related to copyright and product development.
2019 was an important year for the project. ODLA is a keyboard for the digital writing of music also accessible to visually impaired or blind people: prototypes of the keyboard were presented during numerous events at a national level, receiving an important response in terms of interest. The project achieved also a prize for innovation.
The Leonardo prize for innovation in music was in fact awarded to the project during the 2019 edition of the FIM, the exhibition for innovation and education in music, that was held in Milan, Italy. In addition to great visibility on music-related media, the award gave ODLA the opportunity to highlight the project during the Web Marketing Festival of Rimini, Italy.
ODLA was also introduced to the students of the LIM, the Musical Informatics Laboratory of Milan, to the Regina Margherita musical high school in Palermo and to the I.Ri.Fo.R., the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired, of Florence.
In addition to being a keyboard capable of interfacing with the most important music notation software, ODLA is in fact a tool for music students and musicians with visual impairments; this, thanks to its exclusive embossed pentagram, which reproduces the experience of musical writing to the touch.
The project was also presented during the 2019 edition of MedioEra, festival of digital culture: here ODLA was the star of the start-up night together with other interesting projects in the digital field.
Recent news is that the ODLA brand has been registered in Europe and the rights have been extended to other Western and Eastern countries. Even the industrial design – one of the main features of ODLA – has been registered throughout Europe and in America and Japan (here, the procedure is pending).
The invention patent is ‘Pending’ at an international level, after the deposit of the PCT.
On the product side, the last prototype is about to get finalized before going into production: the focus now is on the details related to mechanics and hardware. The software is also under review and control, in order to achieve an optimal performance.
